DPA switch -increase input voltage range
I wanted to design 10W DCDC converter using DPA switch DPA424GN with 3 outputs that accepts input voltage 8 to 32 VDC . However DPA accepts input voltage 16-32V DC. Shall I extend the input voltage range as 8 to 32V by adding pre boost converter stage. boost converter with input range 6V to 16V DC and output 22V DC with 1.2Mhz switching frequency. Let me know is this possible to add boost converter before DPA DC DC converter. if yes I have following queries 1. What changes I need to do in boost converter? or in the input stage of DPA DC DC converter? 2. Is there any changes to be made for switching frequency 1.2MHZ Since DPA switching frequency is 400Khz any compatibility issue for DC input for DPA switch due to adding 1.2Mhz boost converter? 3. any special instruction for this design?

Hello rajmudratab,
It should be fine to add a boost converter before the DPA Switch converter in order for the input to the DPA switch to be within its operating range.
It should also be fine to use the 1.2Mhz converter you have since the DPA Switch will only see the output which is a stable DC voltage.
For special instructions, you may need to place a decoupling capacitor between the boost converter and the DPA Switch flyback converter to filter any noise entering the DPA Switch from the boost converter. This capacitor will need to be placed closer to the flyback rather than the boost.
I hope this answers your questions.
